On the road at Dakota County Technical College, Ellsworth Community College was even with the hosts through the first 20 minutes. The Panthers pulled away in the second half and recorded their eighth win in a row – 102-84.
The 10th-ranked ECC (8-0) were tied with the Blue Knights at 49-49 at the break. The second half, things started to heat up and the Panthers defense locked down on DCTC (4-3), outscoring them 53-35.
All five starters were in double figures for the visitors. Of the 11 players that got on the court for the Panthers, seven had double digit scoring nights. Jayden Pretty led in the scoring column with 19 points and was eight of 10 from the floor. Rav Randhawa turned in a 17 point, 10 assist double-double while Tanner Berggren tallied 13 points and 12 rebounds.
As a team, the Panthers shot 50 percent from the floor and made five three-pointers and were 17 of 22 from the charity stripe.
The Blue Knights made six three-balls but were 44.9 from the floor and eight of 13 from the line. Once again the rebounding line was lopsided in favor of ECC, with DCTC grabbing 36 to the Panthers 54.
ECC will travel to second-ranked Kirkwood on Tuesday to open the ICCAC portion of the schedule.
