Bonus points lift Ellsworth over Lakers
Ellsworth Community College picked up a big 34-9 win over Iowa Lakes on Wednesday night in front of a home crowd, evening the Panthers dual record to 2-2.
Panther wrestling's Rozell Baker named Athlete of the Week
The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) announced it’s Athlete of the Week for November 18-24. Ellsworth wrestling’s Rozell Baker was one of two wrestling athletes on the list. Baker, a sophomore from Cahokia, IL, went 6-0 for the week, wrestling at 184 lbs. He defeated Iowa Central’s 6th ranked Anthony Johnson. Baker went on to collect five wins at the Lindenwood Open for a tournament championship.
Ellsworth wrestling faces rivals, Iowa Central
Wednesday, the Ellsworth Community College wrestling team traveled to rivals Iowa Central Community College. The dual, which featured two highly ranked squads was won by the Tritons – 28-13. Winning for ECC was Jackson Wenberg at 141, a 9-8 decision. At 165, Mikael Failor pinned his opponent and Rozell Baker earned a 12-1 major decision at 184.
Big time comeback for Ellsworth wrestling at Council Bluffs
At Iowa Western on Wednesday night, Ellsworth Community College came back to defeat the No. 18 Reivers 23-20. Iowa Western held an 18-0 lead over the No. 5 Panthers before Mikael Failer picked up the win and got ECC on the board. The Panthers also had wins at 174 from Cameron Nesbitt. At 184, Rozell Baker was bit by Josh McFarland which disqualified the Reiver wrestler and cost the hosts a team point. In the final two weights, Trayvonne Jackson (197) and Darrell Mason (285) each picked up pins for the win.
Adam Fahs named Ellsworth Community College’s interim head wrestling coach
After eight seasons as Ellsworth Community College Head Wrestling Coach, Cole Spree announced his resignation to start a wrestling program at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa. Taking on the role of interim head coach is Adam Fahs, who has been the Panthers’ assistant coach for three seasons.

Alec Oberhauser Basketball
Alec Oberhauser is a 6’7” transfer from Grandview University and a 2018 Aplington-Parkersburg graduate. During his senior season at A-P, Alec averaged 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists a game. He was First Team All-State as well as the 2018 Class 2A Player Of The Year after leading A-P to the state tournament and a 3rd place finish.

Bailey Stroud Basketball
Bailey Stroud from Columbus Junction, IA will be returning this season to play for the women's basketball team. Last season she averaged 9.2 points per game, lead the team in steals per game with 2.6, finished 3rd in the conference with 2.6 steals per game and averaged 2.2 assists per game. She was also named to the NJCAA's 2019 Spring 2nd Team Academic All-Region.

Cardeionte Willson Wrestling
Cardeionte Willson (Miami, FL) is beginning his 2nd season with the Panther wrestling team. Last year Wilson finished 22-5 and was able to pile up a list of accomplishments including: being named 2nd Team Academic All Region, North Central District Champion, and finally the 149lb NJCAA National Champion.

Jojo Keahey Volleyball
Jojo Keahey is a sophomore from Eldora, IA and attended South Hardin High School. Jojo was Academic All-Region 2nd Team last year and is currently in the ECC nursing program.

Katie Smith Softball
Sophomore Katie Smith from Robins, IA returns for her second season with the Panthers. She is a Linn-Mar graduate. She played both pitcher and utility for the Panthers last season. She received All-Region Honorable Mention honors and was second on the team with eight home runs. She was also a leader in the classroom, receiving All-Region 1st Team Academic honors.

Zach Carlsen Baseball
Zach Carlsen returns to ECC for his sophomore year with the Panthers. Zach led the team in wins, strike outs, complete games (4), innings pitched and was 2nd on the team in ERA. He is from Sycamore, IL.
