An Ellsworth Community College lead became a Northeast Community College win as the Hawks swept the hosts 25-22, 25-18, 25-21.
The Panthers (15-11, 4-5) went on top early in game one and built a 15-10 lead. NECC came back to get within one before ECC went on a run. On a Giovanna Marins push that landed, ECC was on top 19-15. The visitors got the side out and then went on a 4-0 run to even the score at 19-19. The Panthers remained ahead until 21-20 on a Izabel Hollatz block. One of Marins’ 10 kills evened the game for the last time at 21-all. The Hawks (12-15, 7-2) scored four of the final five points for the 25-22 victory.
There were just four even scores in game two, the final one at 10-10. NECC then went on a run and built an eight point lead. ECC could never get into system and fell behind 0-2 with the 25-18 loss on a Panther hitting error.
The Hawks took a 6-5 advantage in the third game and never trailed again. Down by five, a Marins kill and Camylle Le Meur serving ace jumpstarted ECC. The hosts cut the deficit to one but could never even the score or take the lead as NECC won 25-21.
The regular season is winding down as the Panthers have two more home matches and three ICCAC matches remaining.
