Jamir Brown Recognized as ICCAC Athlete of the Week

Ellsworth Community College linebacker Jamir Brown has been named the ICCAC Defensive Athlete of the Week, following a standout performance that lifted the Panthers to a thrilling 41-38 win over Highland Community College.

A freshman who’s made an immediate impact this fall, Brown recorded six tackles, including two tackles for loss, but the defining moment came on special teams, where he blocked a punt, recovered it, and returned it 48 yards for a touchdown. The play proved to be a critical momentum swing in a back-and-forth game, and a major factor in securing Ellsworth’s second win of the season.

"Jamir joined us this fall,” said head Coach Matt White. He has been playing lights out on defense and special teams. He is a no-questions-asked kind of player who shows up with a great mentality every day, and he is getting it done on the field. We are very happy to have him!

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) recognized Brown as one of the league’s top performers for the week, a sign of his rising impact and the Panthers’ growing presence within the conference.

"This is a proud moment for Jamir,” said ECC Athletic Director Nate Forsyth. "We’re seeing the culture shift in real time. Athletes are stepping up, competing hard, and representing ECC at a high level. The recognition from the ICCAC over the past few weeks is a reflection of that progress.”

Brown and the Panthers will look to carry the momentum into this Saturday’s home matchup against No. 8 Garden City.

Congratulations to Jamir Brown, the ICCAC Defensive Athlete of the Week, and a rising leader in Ellsworth’s continued growth on the gridiron.
