Santiago signs with Panthers

Darayliz Santiago, a 5'8 setter from Ciales, Puerto Rico, has signed her letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Ellsworth Community College. Santiago has been playing volleyball for nine years, for various club teams in Puerto Rico and for Juan A. Corretjer Montes high school in Ciales, PR. Most recently, she's been playing for the club teams Velerosas II and Ciabol. She played on her high school varsity team for three years; setting for two of the years and hitting for one. During high school, she was team captain and earned three league championships with her high school team. At age 15, she earned her first MVP of the league in her age group, and from there set for the top club team in her community.

"I'm looking for Darayliz to come in and really step up to lead our offense," Panthers head coach Melanie Lane stated. "She's been playing high level, year‐round volleyball for quite some time, so she's quite knowledgeable about the game and what it takes to run an offense." Santiago is daughter to Damaris Gonzales and has three brothers. She plans on majoring in Pre‐Pharmacy.
