Former Ellsworth Community College player and now Auburn basketball player Malcolm Canada found himself at the free-throw line with Auburn trailing Xavier by one point with 14 seconds left in double-overtime on Dec. 20.
Canada was the hero in Auburn's 89-88 double-overtime win over Xavier, making both critical free throws to cap the best performance of his career with 15 points.
The 6-foot 3-inch, 225-pound Canada was forced to play the forward position for most of his 27 minutes due to foul trouble by fellow teammates. Canada normally plays point guard and could outmaneuver bigger forwards guarding him on drives to the basket.
With his clutch shots at the end, Canada helped Auburn to improve to 5-5 for the season.
