The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has announced their 2018 football Hall of Fame class with the Panther's own Dale Carter named to the elite list.
Carter, a defensive back, played for the Panthers in 1988 and 1989 seasons. He was named NJCAA All-American in 1989 and helped the Panthers to a two-year record of 18-1 including a perfect 9-0 season his sophomore year. In his final year at ECC the Panthers were ranked sixth in the nation in total team defense, allowing just 195.8 yards per game. As part of the defense, Carter helped limit opposing quarterbacks to just 89.8 yards passing.
After finishing at ECC Carter transferred and finished his collegiate career at Tennessee where he was a two-time All-SEC selection and an All-American recipient. He was a first-round pick in the 1992 NFL Draft and was named the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year with the Kansas City Chiefs. During Carter's 12 years in the NFL he played with the Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens.
